I tried wet hiking in shorts once--in 1995. The current of Barton Creek in Austin swept my wallet out of my pocket. The direct financial loss was only $20, but getting my identification cards replaced was troublesome. I found that double Gladlock bags in BDU side pockets was far more practical for wet hikes. Nowadays I secure my wallet in the overalls chest pocket.
