Because swimming is a fun and socially acceptable way to get many subsets of clothing (mainly excluding heavy clothing, denim, and long and flowing outfits which may get entangled with other swimmers) wet in a communal environment, and has no age limit. It's a sport that can be developed to any extent you're comfortable with, not just for jocks, and a good way to meet other wet people. It gives you more confidence and opens up other fun activities (like pool parties, waterslides, surfing, SUPboarding, dunk tanks, and pushing girls in the water (and therefore being pushed in by them)). And the local public pool is open the whole year, not just in the summer when the weather's good. Okay, I tried to help, chill out and Always fill your day with wonderful things :)
