Glad you got to enjoy this. Your tips are excellent and I couldn't agree with them more. Have done several of these mud runs in the past and I always walk them as I am not a runner. The neat thing is you can be as athletic and competitive as you chose. Was supposed to do one a few weeks ago where they had a special class for people who wanted to run as many laps of the course as possible during a certain time frame while most just do the regular course once.
So, the big question: What did you wear? Costumes are often encouraged and enjoyed by competitors and spectators alike. Have never worn traditional running gear at the events I've been to and crowd has always loved it. Many "older" people often compete - we may be old but we ain't dead!
Glad you enjoyed and hope you get to do more in the future.
