Regarding the shivering, this can be nerves, due to fulfillment of a much longed-for need, or even low blood sugar (but don't eat an hour before swimming, to avoid reflux when you turn your head to breathe). It can also be difference in temperature between the top of your head and the rest of your body (which is why I lean backwards off the top step of the pool ladder, and fall in, getting wet all at once, then the water temperature doesn't matter). And yes, your body produces heat that warms your wet clothes from the inside, (but not as much with cotton if it's windy; man-made fibres are better). Always fill your soul with wonderful things :)
